Confessions...Wedding Shoe Search Part 6

I have to admit something.

I have been holding out on you.

When we last spoke about my brother's pending nuptials, I led you to believe these would be the footwear I would be sporting:

Comfortable and practical.

But, I changed my mind. I came across Endless.com and their wonderful shoe selection. And I fell in love with this pair:

With an online coupon, I couldn't resist ordering them and at least taking them for a test ride around my home. As it turns out, they were comfy too. And they wiggled their way in to my heart.

So there you have it. I'm no longer feel weighed down with this secret. I promise there will only be one more post about the shoes and the wedding. After all, I do have to share the entire ensemble!

Stay tuned...

Final Stop. Wedding Shoe Search…Part 5

The bad news: I realized that I probably needed to up my budget in order to find shoes that I would be happy with. But with any luck I hoped to find shoes that I could wear again on a regular basis...aka to work.

The good news: This was the last order of shoes to be delivered to my home in the quest of the golden shoe.

This time I hit up Shoebuy.com. All in all I was very pleased with my order. And free shipping both ways with a 20% off coupon doesn’t hurt either!

Here are the goods:

This pair is insanely comfortable! My feet love wearing these shoes and I easily could wear them to work. The extra bonus is that since the wedding is outdoors, a wedge heel is a much safer bet than a skinny little heel.  But I am a little concerned that they might not be dressy enough. I mean, it is quite a far stretch from what the bride originally recommended.

This pair was also up there on the comfy-ness scale. But not quite as good as the first. I did like the sweetness that the bow added to the shoe. Although I am not sure they are quite work appropriate.

This pair barely made it out of the gate. Same issue as the pair from Overstock, the strap across the front was too big. Next...

This pair was super cute. I love the bit of attitude the "snake skin" detail on the strap brings. However, there was no chance of wearing this pair to work.

And finally:

This pair struck out before even being tried on. What the picture does not show well is that the leather (real? faux?) is distressed. So the gold finish has a crackled look. No Thanks.

So which pair did I decide on? Which pair will I be wearing to my brother's wedding?

Drum roll please....

Surprised? Agree? Disagree? Find any pairs like the one I originally wanted around the $40 mark? Please share!

Next stop on the shoe train. Wedding Shoe Search...Part 4

With two online shops of out the running, I started to revisit a few of the stops I previously made. One of these trips took me back to Overstock.com. Over the years I have made a few purchases from Overstock, but they had consisted of handbags and furniture. So this would be my first shoe trek.

Trying to stay on budget and with in the gold parameters, here is what I stumbled across:

Cute, right? I must say, I was quite excited to receive these. They have a good mix of a classic shoe with a bit of sass thrown in.

Unfortunately, like my previous experiences, the online version of the shoe was much better than the one that arrived in the mail.

See these straps?

The ones that go across the front of the foot?

Yep, they were much too big for my feet and it was beginning to look like I was playing dress up in my mother's closet again.

Verdict: Return. Too bad this pair required me to pay the return shipping like the first batch did. I decided that to meet my apparently high standards, I might need to up my budget. Begrudgingly, I moved from the $20 mark to the $40 mark.

Fourth time’s the charm? Wedding Shoe Search...Part 4

After failing miserably with Shiekh Shoes, I decided to go back to a store that I know well and one that has a local location so I could return the rejects with no issue. Plus orders over $50 shipped free to my home. What magical store am I speaking of?

Target!

Here is what I was able to find on Target.com that was worth a shot to fit the golden ticket:
This pair I was very unsure of. Sure they look cute and I love sling backs, but my hesitations were correct - the flower was just too much!

This pair was super cute. I had very high hopes for this little pair. But I could not stand the strap around my ankle. Unfortunately, I could not bear to walk around them in my home for 15 minutes, let alone for an entire evening at a wedding.

This pair was a shot in the dark. The style is cute, but I should have known better that the color would not be right, especially with a description like “metallic”.

This last pair is much more my typical style and with a wedge heel, it would be much more manageable than stilettos in an outdoor ceremony. But my poor feet would not believe my mind that they are cute so therefore they should be comfortable.

Verdict: Return all 4. At least this batch did not cost me anything to ship back!

From the Beginning…Wedding Shoe Search Part 3

After a quick search online to see what I was getting in to, I began the search for bridesmaid’s shoes in our hometown. Mr. Moore and I scoured every store that might possibly have shoes. We went from the mall and Target to TJMaxx and second hand stores. I know it’s kinda gross to buy someone else’s old shoes. But I was hoping to find something quick and at a low price. Plus I figured over the next three months, I could spray disinfectant in them every day to kill anything that may be living in the shoes.

After completely striking out locally, I began officially searching online for gold shoes around the $20 mark. While searching, I came across Shiekh Shoes. I was thrilled that the shoes were inexpensive and some of them were pretty cute on top of it! Initially I had 20 pairs of shoes in my online shopping cart. Mr. Moore convinced me that I needed to narrow the choices down, because while the shipping to me was free, the return was not.

Here is what was ordered, all in gold, all in 7.5:

The second the shoes arrived to my home, I was extremely eager to try them on. However, the second I began trying them on, I could not have been more disappointed. Between the inconsistent sizing and the extremely poor quality, I knew the shoes were not going to work. Four of the shoes barely fit on my feet and the last was entirely too big. The few that I could shove my foot in to (imagine one of Cinderella’s evil step sisters) were so poorly made, that I could tell within 5 minutes of walking my poor toes would be covered in blisters. Granted I really only need to make it down the aisle and back, I was hoping to wear them a good part of the night.

Verdict: return all 5 pairs. And never order from Shiekh again.

On to the next 10 pairs...

Wedding Shoe Search...Part 2

I arrived home this evening to this:

A pile of shoes in on my dining room chair!

Numbers 11, 12, 13, and 14 of my shoe conundrum have come for me to try on.

I must say, that number 13 and 14 are awfully promising. I have one more pair that I am waiting on from this latest order, but I will say, that we are getting close and there might even be a winner in our midst. Hopefully this last pair will arrive soon and become a contender as well.  And more importantly, hopefully when I see the bride in 2 weeks, she will like the shoes too!

Stay tuned for the final verdict!

Wedding Shoe Search

This fall I am a bridesmaid in my brother’s wedding. The dress process was simple. The bride gave us a line to choose from and wanted the length to be “short”. Here is the dress I chose:

However, the bride did request it in claret, but still, simple enough:

Here comes the hard part...the shoes. She wants us to wear gold shoes. Here are the shoes that my brother’s fiancé suggested:

Now, I am not a rhinestone, strappy, gold shoe kind of girl, but I realize this is their big day, so I am willing to play along with the gold part.

After searching all of the local establishments for an acceptable pair of gold shoes, at a reasonable price, and completely striking out, I was forced to begin online shopping. As of today, I have ordered over a dozen pairs of shoes from various websites with no luck. Unfortunately, since I am trying to keep the price as low as possible, most of the shoes are very cheaply made and are extremely uncomfortable. I cannot see being able to wear them for an entire wedding. Granted, I will probably change out of them at some point.

Here is what I would ideally like to wear, but very unwilling to pay for:

I am hoping that as summer goes along more gold shoes will come out in stores. Please cross your fingers with me!
